   As part of our recently released preview of our Nix extensibility work, we persist all changes in your home directory. We are exploring additional ways of being able to persist changes between VM sessions.

    IDX uses Nix, not APT.
    If you want to have packages, you can use the dev.nix file under the folder .idx

    With our publicized NixOS support, you can now create custom templates and even have "Open in IDX" capabilities from your Git repo.

    That would be really useful. And maybe there could be a menu where user can share their templates, that will then show in a "user made templates".
