We are nearly ready to accept developers who are interested in custom authentication (external identity provider). Please fill out https://forms.gle/pLLYMFhGcrziqT1N8 and we can notify you if you're selected to join the private preview.
Please note that full regionalization for Firebase Authentication is separate, and is still expected to reach preview in Q4 this year.

Hi Micah, thanks for the ongoing updates on this thread.
Could you please share the current status (as of mid-2026) on a few specific points?
1) Pass-through authentication via an external IdP: In your April 14, 2026 comment you mentioned this is "ready for early access." Is this currently a private/limited preview, or has it moved to public preview? And what exactly is the access model today?
2) Sign-up process: Is the Google Form you shared earlier (forms.gle/pLLYMFhGcrziqT1N8) still the active and correct way to request access, or has the onboarding moved somewhere else (e.g. a docs page or console flow)?
3) Full regionalized Firebase Auth (with user records stored in the EU): This was previously expected to reach preview by end of 2025 / Q4. Is there an updated timeline you can share?
4) Documentation: Is there any official docs page for the regionalized / pass-through setup yet, or is this thread still the primary source?
EU data residency for Authentication is a hard requirement for many of us (GDPR, public-sector and FSI customers), so any concrete update would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!
