    This would be fantastic, not even for Firebase Rules but just in general, so that things such as unique usernames could be enforced.

    This would be a great UX change, but not only for RTDB, but also for other Firebase tools, like Firestore DB, Storage, etc, as the work around is to have an empty collection / folder, which isn't great.
