Support Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) in the SDKs
KMP is now stable and more libraries are being added to KMP ecosystem. There is a big opportunity for Firebase to be in Multiplatform and support developers adopting this tech.

We are building a production KMP-CMP App and we have to write a lot of duplicate and expect actual code for firebase, so for now we avoid using it.

The lack of easy Firebase adoption in KMP prevents us from sharing more of our data layer between our Android and iOS apps and even our backend, as we heavily depend on Firestore. Currently, we're implementing every change in our data structures multiple times, which we could do only once, as we already have a shared library in place.

This is one of the major disincentives for Firebase adoption in the KMP project

I use Firebase as the core backend for every application I build. While adopting Kotlin Multiplatform, the lack of an official, KMP-native Firebase SDK is a significant pain point. Being able to call Firestore, Auth, and Storage from the commonMain module would eliminate code duplication and prevent inconsistencies between Android and iOS. Hoping to see this prioritized.

All apps either native Android or iOS use any of the Firebase services. Using them in a KMP context without any setup headache would be greater, expecially for Analytics and FCM services!

I spent over 30 hours integrating Firebase Remote Config and Crashlytics into my iOS app. This project is very important to me. 🥹

I have an existing Android app that I’m migrating to Kotlin Multiplatform for iOS. My app relies on several Firebase products. If an official Firebase KMP library were available, it would significantly reduce the effort needed to implement platform-specific mappings manually and would save a lot of development time.

The KMP ecosystem is evolving, and it would be good to have official support for KMP.

As a KMP developer I am using Supabase but always miss features and convenience of Firebase. Please add firebase support in KMP.
