1. Manage minInstances setting of pinned functions of previous releases

   Pinned functions of previous releases keep their minInstances setting. E.g. after deploying 10 times with a minInstances setting of 1, there will be 10 idling instances but only the newest revision handles all the traffic. Yet the remaining 9 instances' idle time is billed as well because the function is still addressable through the revision tag.

   This also affects the maxInstances setting: With a maxInstances setting of 10, the newest Cloud Run revision which handles 100% of the traffic won't be able to scale anymore.

   As far as I know, the only way to handle this right now is to manually delete the Cloud Run revisions or to manually remove the revision tag. Both methods unfortunately break the rollback functionality and are complicated (if even impossible?) to integrate into CD pipelines.

   I would appreciate the possibility of automatically scaling down pinned v2 function revisions that don't handle any traffic to a minInstances setting of 0.

3. Hosting CDN cache stale-while-revalidate

   Time-to-first-byte from Firebase Functions is usually slow (more than 500ms) even without cold start, sometimes (with cold starts) TTFB becomes absolutely unacceptable for projects where performance is important. SSRed HTML is also not Brotli compressed as static files.
   This is a really big problem to deploy SSR web apps to Firebase IMO, and cache SWR at the CDN layer (edge) would solve it perfectly.

4. X-User-Country header when proxying to Google Cloud Run

   App Engine and Cloud Functions send X-AppEngine-Country to app servers, which is useful for serving regional content to users.

   Google Cloud Run doesn't receive the same headers. GCR can receive this header through load balancer custom headers (https://cloud.google.com/load-balancing/docs/https/custom-headers), but it'd be great if it were supported through Firebase Hosting directly without any extra configurations.

6. Offer no bill in case of small website spam which could cause a houndred dollar bill for no reason.

   When I chose to use Firebase. It was because it was a free database for small webpages with 10 SMS/day. Now, it seems that you changed the terms when I already put a lot of effort into using firebase. Now I need to use a Blaze plan for 10 SMS/day. This means the following: "Now I might get spammed by any hacker using a VNP + a bot". It doesnt matter how much time I spend on setting up anti-spam defense. I could still get spammed and have to pay thousands of dollars right? I have 2 solutions:

   1. You could offer me the previous terms: 10 SMS/day without a pay-as-you go plan.
   2. I use the pay-as-you go plan. But You need to sign a contract or a guarantee that if I suddenly get a 1000 dollar paycheck even though I only have about 1 user/day, I shouldnt have to pay that bill.

   Is this possible? This would make sense for all your small-business customers since firebase WAS a good options for small website startups before.

8. Disable build script in `firebase deploy` OR enable env configurations

   Right now there's not the ability to select a build configuration. I want that either firebase leaves to the developers the option to build the app, or that a developer can instruct firebase to use a specific build configuration.

11. CI & CD for deployments

    Git based CI & CD auto deployments would really be a game changer, it can be integrated to things like cloud run and enable this. Half the time I use tools like vercel and netlify because of lack of auto deployments in firebase

13. Trusted headers for client IP address via Firebase Hosting

    Context: from a backend running on Cloud Run/Cloud Functions, how to determine client IP address, when you need to TRUST it for IP-address based access restrictions.

    You can normally find the real client IP as the first entry in the X-Forwarded-For header, but you cannot trust it.

    If you are using Cloud Run (or Cloud Functions gen 2), then as far as I can tell the Cloud Run orchestrator always sits as a proxy in front of your container. This means you can trust the last entry in X-Forwarded-For as this is the client IP seen by Cloud Run itself. The last address is the only address you can trust. Any preceeding addresses in the list could have been provided/spoofed by the requester themselves or any untrusted proxy along the way.

    If you are proxying the the Cloud Run container (or Cloud Function) behind Firebase hosting, then the last address in the list is the Fastly CDN proxy, not the original client address. You might be tempted to use the second-to-last address (or the Fastly-Client-IP header), but you cannot trust this.

    If the requester learns the direct address of your Cloud Run container (e.g. <your-service>.a.run.app) then they can make the request directly, and spoof either of those headers, telling you whatever address they want to.

    In short, there needs to be some coordination between Cloud Run and Firebase Hosting for Cloud Run to provide some "trusted header". When a request reaches Cloud Run via Firebase Hosting the two need to authenticate themselves so that Cloud Run can provide the real client IP as seen by Firebase Hosting, only if the request actually came from legitimate Firebase Hosting.

    Without this, Firebase Hosting cannot be used as a proxy when IP-address based authentication is required.

17. Allow specifying number of stored releases when creating a preview channel

    Preview channels by default store 10 previous releases per channel. When running firebase hosting:channel:create there is the --expires option to set when the channel expires, but there is no option to tell firebase how many previous releases to store.

    In my case I don't need previous releases at all, and the extra storage is completely unneeded and makes us hit the quota earlier.

19. Firebase hosting timeout should be configurable

    I am using cloud run to and firebase hosting to have a custom domain to access my application.

    I know Firebase doc mentions :
    Firebase Hosting is subject to a 60-second request timeout. If your app requires more than 60 seconds to run, you'll receive an HTTPS status code 504 (request timeout).

    But I need to increase this timeout, since my cloud run app has a function to process data and write to an excel that can take up to 3mn.

    Currently frameworks only used npm

    This can cause issues if using yarn or pnpm, and npm does not read the lockfile and you can end up with different versions of dependencies in production

    Deployments with frameworks should detect the package manager used
