Support Ruby on rails
It would be great to support RoR framework and ruby language and have a template for quickly building cloud ready applications in RoR. Also it would be great if you have other extra add-ons to that project template.
For ex. Ror with vue integration, scss integration etc35 votesWe have released a preview version of our Ruby support for you all to try out! :-)

Screenshot to UI Prototype (with 99% accuracy)
Enhanced UI Building:
➡️✅ Screenshot-to-Code (HTML/CSS): Integrate AI (like V0) to generate UI code directly from screenshots with high accuracy, even can grab logo to logo image.
➡️💻 Intelligent Component Suggestions: AI analyses design inputs (screenshots, descriptions) and recommends relevant Firebase UI components.
➡️🧱 Automated Layout Generation: Based on user needs, AI proposes initial UI layouts using Firebase UI primitives.
📐➡️ Style Transfer: Allow users to apply visual styles from existing designs or screenshots to Firebase UI components.

Clear LLM Selector
Firebase Studio appears to predominantly rely on one of the Gemini Flash models, though there also seems to be the ability to utilize Gemini 2.5 Pro via a bring-your-own-API-key approach. That by itself is fine, though the current UI isn't very good at keeping the user informed about which model they are using at any given time and how to switch during a project. I propose a clear, easy to change selector (most simply as a drop down panel) that showcases all available models, as well as models that can be added by using ones own API key. If such…

Enable Importing from custom Gitlab instances (i.e. not gitlab.com/)
At work we use a custom Gitlab instance (gitlab.ocado.tech) but currently I can't import projects from this instance. Is this something that would be looked at, or how would that work?

Project IDX API needed
We need an API that can create IDX workspace, add collaborators through API calls so new workspaces can be created by users of our freelancing website and later on when a worker is assigned to a project we can add a collaborator via API.

I think it will be a good idea to add additional tabs at the terminal level for devtools of the webviewer.

Flutter previews (IOS)
Well, I think that in the first instance I could suggest to correct a small problem that IOS previews have because perhaps depending on the size of the device that is being used the image quality and visibility of the texts is affected, another thing I saw is that when using useMaterial3: true the result is not very similar to doing it using the android emulator or ios locally.
ah and if you can put the theme monokai ocean would be super hahaha.37 votes -
Support for Lua
I suggest support for Lua, a lot of games and apps use Lua, It'd be nice to have support of it as it's also beginner-friendly making it relatively easy

Export Gemini chat transcript
After I have a good chat session about my project, I might want to share my Gemini transcript with a coworker, i.e. like with https://g.co/gemini/share/abc123 from the Gemini Android app.
Right now, the workaround is to copy-paste (but the formatting is awful) or take a screenshot.

Do not require third-party cookies
A service released in 2023 should not require third-party cookies to be allowed.
If not for the privacy and usability for its users, then for the project itself, since many browsers are phasing out support for third-party cookies. Firefox already blocks them and chrome will soon do the same:

Give access to dir outside home like /opt, /mnt. etc.
It is getting hard to setup the existing open source project on google idx as we only has access to /home dir and all other are only in read only mode which is making hard for use to develop new project on the idx

Collaboration and Communication
It would be nice to have the ability to join an IRC chat or some sort of chat within the project so you could collaborate with other individuals, including the ability to paste spots in the code another can click and look at, pastebins, quick access to bug trackers with the ability to paste the links as well, and all the tools you need to organize your project.
Gemini Suggestions
Ok, love the suggestions in grey though they are a bit slow.
So, if there were a chat interface, it would be nice to have a chat…
