1. Enhance Build Process with pnpm Support

   To streamline our web application development workflow and improve build performance, we propose integrating pnpm as an additional package manager option. pnpm offers significant advantages over npm, including:

   Faster Installation: pnpm's unique dependency management approach leads to significantly faster installation times, especially for large projects.
   Efficient Disk Space Usage: pnpm's hard linking mechanism reduces disk space usage by avoiding redundant copies of dependencies.
   Improved Security: pnpm provides advanced security features like dependency auditing and vulnerability checks.
   By incorporating pnpm support, we can enhance our build process, reduce build times, and improve overall project efficiency.

   Mainly we have some projects already built using pnpm configs so working on those might become easier.

2. Enable Importing from custom Gitlab instances (i.e. not gitlab.com/)

   At work we use a custom Gitlab instance (gitlab.ocado.tech) but currently I can't import projects from this instance. Is this something that would be looked at, or how would that work?

6. Suggestion for Enhanced Authentication Flow in Firebase Authentication

   Dear Firebase Support Team,

   I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share a suggestion that I believe could greatly benefit Firebase Authentication and developers working on more complex applications.

   Currently, Firebase Authentication provides excellent flexibility with signInWithPhoneNumber and createUserWithEmailAndPassword, allowing projects to authenticate users using either a phone number or an email/password combination. However, in certain projects, both the phone number and email/password are essential to meet higher security standards and user profile requirements.

   In these cases, having an integrated authentication flow that combines signInWithPhoneNumber and createUserWithEmailAndPassword within a single, cohesive process would be highly valuable. This would allow developers to:

   Verify both Phone Number and Email in one seamless flow, ensuring that both contact methods are valid.
   Enhance Security and User Experience by allowing users to use either their phone number or email for future logins, while maintaining a smooth registration process.
   Create a More Complete User Profile right from the start, which is especially useful for applications that require strong user verification for sensitive data or financial transactions.
   Currently, implementing both methods within the same authentication process involves a multi-step workaround that can complicate the onboarding experience. A built-in support mechanism from Firebase could simplify this flow for developers and improve the overall user experience.

   I hope this suggestion resonates with your team and aligns with Firebase’s mission to provide developers with powerful, user-friendly tools. I would be thrilled to see this feature implemented in a future release.

10. Make Phone Auth support MFA

    Food delivery services usually need to know the phone number of their customers, to guarantee that the deliveries will be smooth.

    So, a food delivery app would probably prefer authenticating users by phone number rather than by email address.

    Phone auth on its own isn’t particularly secure, though, so it would be nice to allow users to optionally add email authentication as a second factor.

    As of right now, phone auth doesn’t support MFA, though, which means that a food delivery app might want to force users to use email and phone 2FA right away, which might seem intrusive to users, even if you implement anonymous auth and explain why you’re asking for both email and phone.

11. Allow paying for higher CPU and SLA

    Please add the option to pay for more CPU resources and a higher SLA:

    • The workspace gets sluggish as the project grows. More CPU would be helpful.
    • Sometimes IDX is down for extended periods of time with a 503 (Service Unavailable).

12. doesn't deprecate Firebase Dynamic Links and separately charge for the feature as part of the Blaze plan.

    Firebase Dynamic Links are slated to be fully removed by Aug, 2025 but it is such a wonderful feature and I am not sure why is it removed from Firebase suite. I am willing to pay for it and I am sure there are many other users willing to pay for it.

13. Crashlytics Section should have User perceived ANR Filter

    There are lot of ANR like https://github.com/firebase/firebase-android-sdk/issues/6147#issuecomment-2417385067

    Which has no solution even Firebase team concluded that.
    So, there should be a filter to segregate user perceived ANRs on crashlytics.

15. Make Firebase Functions Test a First Grade citizen

    A solid Firebase Functions experience requires a fully functional test suite.
    Firebase-functions-test is already there, and provides the experience, but is often forgotten for months.

    Firebase functions 6 was released a month ago, and it broke functions-test.

    There's currently a patch that fixes it, and it's been there for a week.

    This idea isn't about this issue. It's about giving resources to the firebase-functions-text project, so it can continue growing and thus giving cloud firebase functions users a solid testing experience before deploying.

17. Merge Projects

    It would be nice to merge projects. I am building a spring boot, postgres, and angular project but I used the template for angular, spring boot, and postgres and now I have three projects I would like to merge. I know I can dig into the nix file and do it manually, but wouldn't it be nice to merge them with a single click?

20. Emulator: Firestore requests with descending order + clear button

    The Firestore requests page in the emulator currently sorts the requests by ascending execution time, which requires to scroll to the very bottom every time to see the last request. Very cumbersome.

    The emulator should order by default by descending order and also offer a "clear" button to empty the list upon request.
