Replace collection with new set of documents as an atomic operation
Many time, we have a collection that is created using data received from an API call and the collection needs to be reset to the new data received in the next API call. For e.g., I have a collaborative app. Each user can see who else in their address-book using the app, such that they can collaborate with them. I send the phone contacts to the backend and we check which contacts and using the app and initialize the contacts collection. The phone contacts are synched every day. The next day, when we get the phone contacts, I want simply…

Using firebase init will create a git submodule in the functions folder, which is a giant hassle to remove. I just want init git in the root project.

Explain the format of the Firestore rules (and indexes) in firebase.json
At https://firebase.google.com/docs/cli?authuser=0#the_firebasejson_file, the firebase.json examples mention the Firestore rules like this:
"rules": "firestore.rules",
"rules": "firestore.default.rules",
"indexes": "firestore.default.indexes.json"What exactly is "firestore.rules"? A reserved string? An ID (pointing to what)? A filename (in what format)?

Gemini Panel UI Improvements
The Gemini side panel has an awkward UI design which takes up way too much screen space. When I click to open it shouldn't stay open because then I have to click the X to close and click again to reopen which I find annoying. There should be an option button to allow for auto open when the mouse moves to the edge of window and auto close when the mouse exits the Gemini panel.
Also if you choose to dock to right there's so much wasted space with duplicate menu buttons. (Alerts, Chat, Help) appears on both the left…

Should add basic REDIS/ Memcache Like Capability
Why I Want This?
Firebase splits functions to individual Docker Container. This works great for scaling, but with that it is not easy to share global values, for example, user's access key to external services and session specific values.
While we can use REDIS and such hosted on GCP, it would be more "batteries included" platform if this feature is offered as a built-in functionality for the functions without resorting to Firestore or RTDB.
What I look for is to globally share key values and also auto-expire them.

Security key/WebAuthn 2FA
Currently, we only have the option to use TOTP 2fa or SMS. Security keys are quickly gaining popularity, as it is a more secure option. Please add this.

Expose createTime & updateTime in scheduled Firebase LevelDB exports
I am using this procedure for regular backups: https://firebase.google.com/docs/firestore/solutions/schedule-export
and some tooling to locally analyze data in the resulting (downloaded) LevelDB backups.The Admin SDK exposes (internally, but still) createTime, readTime and updateTime properties on snapshots. I don’t see these properties included in the database exports; which makes them less complete as backups, and less useful for data analysis.

should include updating the In-App messaging data dynamically based on the triggered event bundle received from the app
The current functionality of the In-App messaging feature is basically a one-way communication from Firebase to app for the means of providing data with just the triggering point from the app side. It would be great if the event triggered carries a bundle data to update the In-App message data before showing it in the app. This will be a game changer in my opinion.

Add support to programmatically configure social providers for tenants
Add the ability to configure social authentication methods like Google, Facebook, etc. like how OIDC and SAML can be done.
Also, the ability to use the parent configuration for Google Authentication so it is just an enable like in the Web Console UI. This reduces the overhead code that we need to provide if all we are doing is splitting into different tenants for management reasons.

Firebase CLI (Python version) should provide debugging information
Add better debugging information into Firebase CLI (Python) version. The CLI frequently throws the following error but does not provide any further information, even in debug mode.
Failed to call quitquitquit. This often means the server failed to start request to http://127.0.0.1:8081/__/quitquitquit failed, reason: connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:8081 {"message":"request to http://127.0.0.1:8081/__/quitquitquit failed, reason: connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:8081","type":"system","errno":"ECONNREFUSED","code":"ECONNREFUSED"}
or
Error: User code failed to load. Cannot determine backend specification
Details of the error can however be found in the GCP Console and Cloud Build. The same error messages should appear in the CLI as the Console is not a scalable way to maintain/deploy…
