1. should include updating the In-App messaging data dynamically based on the triggered event bundle received from the app

   The current functionality of the In-App messaging feature is basically a one-way communication from Firebase to app for the means of providing data with just the triggering point from the app side. It would be great if the event triggered carries a bundle data to update the In-App message data before showing it in the app. This will be a game changer in my opinion.

2. Incorrect notifications about extension installation

   Installing extensions such as "Python", "Jupyter Notebook" causes an incorrect notification to pop-up showing "Try downloading manually" which is wrong as after a couple of seconds it gets installed correctly.

5. Use of FirebaseMessagingException should be possible in unit tests

   The FirebaseMessagingException class is sealed with an internal constructor and no interface. This means we cannot test our code that handles this exception because we can't create this type of exception nor can we mock it due to the lack of an interface.

6. redirects existing localhost API requests to the workspace server

   I have a server I was running locally in development on localhost:3000 that I have now ported to IDX so it runs on the IDX monospace server. It means the frontend no longer works when requesting from localhost:3000. It would be great to automatically redirect requests made to localhost:PORT to the monospace server in future

7. Add support to programmatically configure social providers for tenants

   Add the ability to configure social authentication methods like Google, Facebook, etc. like how OIDC and SAML can be done.

   Also, the ability to use the parent configuration for Google Authentication so it is just an enable like in the Web Console UI. This reduces the overhead code that we need to provide if all we are doing is splitting into different tenants for management reasons.

8. Add support using custom SA for 2nd gen cloud functions deployment

   Currently using 2nd gen cloud functions requires having the default Compute Engine Service Account and there is no way to use custom service account.

   Not all projects have the service account or have any means to re-create the default SA if it has been deleted at some point and using default service accounts is anyway something that is not recommended by Google. So currently not all can move to using 2nd gen cloud functions unless support for using custom SA is added.

9. Ability to saved custom made dev.nix configs for future projects

   Since IDX is using nix files to configure an environment, it would probably be best for us to create and save these files and be able to import it into another/future project.

   Specifically "imported from repos" and blank workspaces. That way we wouldn't have to recreate the file or save it in another place when you can just access it from IDX itself.

10. Turning Off Auto Login when creating New User

    The Firebase createUserWithEmailAndPassword function currently auto-logs in the newly created user. However, it's crucial to have an option to turn off auto-login, especially in admin panel scenarios. This can help prevent issues where the admin session expires due to the new user login. Providing such an option will enhance flexibility and control in user management.

    Add better debugging information into Firebase CLI (Python) version. The CLI frequently throws the following error but does not provide any further information, even in debug mode.

    Failed to call quitquitquit. This often means the server failed to start request to http://127.0.0.1:8081/__/quitquitquit failed, reason: connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:8081 {"message":"request to http://127.0.0.1:8081/__/quitquitquit failed, reason: connect ECONNREFUSED 127.0.0.1:8081","type":"system","errno":"ECONNREFUSED","code":"ECONNREFUSED"}

    or

    Error: User code failed to load. Cannot determine backend specification

    Details of the error can however be found in the GCP Console and Cloud Build. The same error messages should appear in the CLI as the Console is not a scalable way to maintain/deploy to production.

12. Django support for firebase app hosting

    Django is a very popular framework. It is likely the easiest one to get up and running with, also allowing reusing the code much better than other solutions. No need to say how big Python is and Django (and even Flask) will only become bigger and bigger. Firebase app hosting must support Django. Not tomorrow, now!

13. [Email Verification] Need to have a param to set expiration time

    As of now, there is no way we can set a custom expiration time for the Email Signin with link authentication. Our use case is that we generate this link through admin sdk and then mail the users (as an invite).

    Hence, it becomes really important for us to have a custom expiration time.

16. How to access Android emulator?

    Hi,

    Currently, there is no way to access the Android emulator in IDX. I tried using the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+P, but there is still no option to view the Android emulator preview.

    Not only the Android emulator preview, but I am also unable to access the Web preview. When clicking on 'Show Web preview', I get this error message: "Command 'Project IDX: Show Web Preview' resulted in an error: command 'monospace.showWebPreview' not found."

18. Firestore insights dashboard

    Same dashboard in GCP as Firestore in datastore mode. Collection storage space usage, index size, data size, etc.

    Also, for multi tenancy apps in both modes (using subcollections or multiple databases or also schemas in native mode would be nice to have) an API that can tell how much resources - space, reads, writes, etc. did each customer use, to be able to offer some kind of pay-as-you-go type of subscription.

Example " Add your Firebase configuration to your web app code" section Step 2 makes sense if no app was build, but at this point of the tutorial the app has been created "My Nexst.js app", so these instruction are not right. Step 3 i believe is wrong or inaccurately written. Are we to transpose the contents to the npm tab from the "SDK setup and configuration pane" to the proper variable state or if we are to replace all the contents of the apphosting.yaml file with a variable and the objects from the npm or config. What does "In the file, replace the existing properties with those that you copied." mean....? Be specific, clear and detailed... This is waisting
