  2. We want to create a Python-based working environment on a virtual machine (VM) that allows for seamless code execution, disk space management, and sharing capabilities with team members. This setup should support dynamic scaling of RAM and GPU resources as needed, with a "pay-as-you-go" billing model for resource consumption. The environment should also enable us to leave our developed code in a standalone, executable state, so it can be run independently by others.

    To support isolated package management, we’ll install necessary Python libraries (e.g., pip, venv, numpy, pandas, etc.) and configure the workspace as a virtual environment using venv or…

  5. We were keep getting the Firestore Quota message tough the usage was just 2% in our billing.
    After reaching out to the Firebase team, we found out that there are also daily limitations for each action (Read, Write,..) that was hidden in google cloud console.

    The suggestion is to make the daily limitation chart visible in Firebase, as this error is effecting the users directly.

  6. Dear Firebase Support Team,

    I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share a suggestion that I believe could greatly benefit Firebase Authentication and developers working on more complex applications.

    Currently, Firebase Authentication provides excellent flexibility with signInWithPhoneNumber and createUserWithEmailAndPassword, allowing projects to authenticate users using either a phone number or an email/password combination. However, in certain projects, both the phone number and email/password are essential to meet higher security standards and user profile requirements.

    In these cases, having an integrated authentication flow that combines signInWithPhoneNumber and createUserWithEmailAndPassword within a single, cohesive process would be highly…

  7. Food delivery services usually need to know the phone number of their customers, to guarantee that the deliveries will be smooth.

    So, a food delivery app would probably prefer authenticating users by phone number rather than by email address.

    Phone auth on its own isn’t particularly secure, though, so it would be nice to allow users to optionally add email authentication as a second factor.

    As of right now, phone auth doesn’t support MFA, though, which means that a food delivery app might want to force users to use email and phone 2FA right away, which might seem intrusive to…

  8. Please add the option to pay for more CPU resources and a higher SLA:

    • The workspace gets sluggish as the project grows. More CPU would be helpful.
    • Sometimes IDX is down for extended periods of time with a 503 (Service Unavailable).

  9. Firebase Dynamic Links are slated to be fully removed by Aug, 2025 but it is such a wonderful feature and I am not sure why is it removed from Firebase suite. I am willing to pay for it and I am sure there are many other users willing to pay for it.

  10. Restrict specific group or user to copy code from IDX. They should be able to perform basic code changes and pushes or pushes with approvals. But need controls for the admin to restrict them to clone other repos and copy the code to it or any other access to copy code from the workspace.

  12. It would be nice to merge projects. I am building a spring boot, postgres, and angular project but I used the template for angular, spring boot, and postgres and now I have three projects I would like to merge. I know I can dig into the nix file and do it manually, but wouldn't it be nice to merge them with a single click?

  14. It's incredible how complex you made Firebase, because of the link with Google Cloud. Firebase used to be an easy solution, but it's all soo overly complex that I don't trust any of it.

    Maybe I will suddenly get a large bill because I made a mistake, or the configuration is bad. It's really annoying. Your service has gone from an easy to use cloud solution to a complete mess of configuration annoyances, security angst, complex issues.

    The documentation is overly complex. You loop around in al the options. And everything refers to Google Cloud again.

    Nothing is easy with…

  15. Recently there was the inclusion of remote config rollouts. Rollouts were introduced to the REST API documentation under the RemoveConfigParameterValue as seen here: https://firebase.google.com/docs/reference/remote-config/rest/v1/RemoteConfig#RemoteConfigParameterValue.

    But the same isn't true for the Firebase-admin package https://firebase.google.com/docs/reference/admin/node/firebase-admin.remote-config.md#remoteconfigparametervalue.

    Would be interesting to have the types that are now available under the rest api to also be available on server side libraries so the usage of rollouts wouldn't impact current implementations that make usage of firebase-admin

  18. currently security rules can only check, "limit, orderby and offset" properties of "request.query" object. if they could check our own custom properties , for example, when users search a collection by id, and I only want them to see a list of documents which contain their id then i should be able to do this in the rules
    posts/{postId} {
    list: if request.query.id == request.auth.uid
    }
    - this would be really beautiful and makes it way easy to secure list request.
