Collaboration and Communication
It would be nice to have the ability to join an IRC chat or some sort of chat within the project so you could collaborate with other individuals, including the ability to paste spots in the code another can click and look at, pastebins, quick access to bug trackers with the ability to paste the links as well, and all the tools you need to organize your project.
Gemini Suggestions
Ok, love the suggestions in grey though they are a bit slow.
So, if there were a chat interface, it would be nice to have a chat…

Directly support R and Python apps
I'd like to use Firebase for app/web hosting, but it appears that that Firebase only really supports java apps. For my Shiny or Streamlit apps, I can't even use Firebase user authentication for web hosting, and instead I have to set up a load balance and IAP. I have been using the Cloud Run Custom Domain mapping integration for Cloud Run services, until I hit the "dead end" of a max 15 SSL certificates for a single GCP project (certificate setup cannot be changed in the GCP Cloud run web UI). I was hoping that Firebase would be a good…

Support Full-Stack, Python Frontend and Backend Web Frameworks, e.g. Plone CMS
Like Firebase, we can now use Web Frontend Framework on top of Python, but still not ready for the Full-Stack Python Web Frameworks, e.g. used for Plone CMS, written as a Full-Stack Web App CMS.

IDX should be free
Project IDX is a very powerful software hosted on a cloud. And as a student I feel like these kinds of software should be free or at least should be partially free to users forever, just like Google Colab. The only thing which irritates me that not enough language supports are available currently. Makes those available, and this project becomes a great addition to Google dev community!

Would like Project IDX workspace to show edit history with character by character edits.
We will be using Project IDX to have students code websites. We used a previous website that we can no longer use. It was helpful to show the edit history so we could help students find their errors.
The character by character edit history was also helpful for us to detect plagiarism and see when they were just copying and pasting a peer's code which happened and we were able to address it before it continued on to other projects.

supports renaming tester groups for App Distribution
It seems impossible to rename tester groups in App Distribution while it seems useful to have some options to organize the groups based on progressive insight.

Gemini Panel UI Improvements
The Gemini side panel has an awkward UI design which takes up way too much screen space. When I click to open it shouldn't stay open because then I have to click the X to close and click again to reopen which I find annoying. There should be an option button to allow for auto open when the mouse moves to the edge of window and auto close when the mouse exits the Gemini panel.
Also if you choose to dock to right there's so much wasted space with duplicate menu buttons. (Alerts, Chat, Help) appears on both the left…

WearOS support for App Distribution
WearOS App Distribution feature is recommended, so Firebase can be used for deploying WearOS apps and updates for test users, and even for production/enterprise apps

Firebase does not provide data in debug view.
We have several apps where the debug view does not provide adequate reporting in realtime of the events. Events with not appear in debug view, but will be seen in RealTime reporting or vice-versa. Debug-view is not reliable for Enterprise work.

This is about the Chatbot Gemini Extension
I'd like to implement a gen-AI feature in my app for general use by the entire organization, but I need a way to monitor and limit how much they use or the cloud cost could spiral out of control. could we have a token count (both prompt and response) in the status map in the transaction document? this way i can keep track of each user's token consumption. with this, it would then be possible to put a reasonable cap on token usage to prevent abuse.
superb extension by the way. thanks!
