  3. What feature would you like to see?
    I would like to see FlutterFire plugins add support for the Linux platform. This enhancement would allow developers to build applications that leverage Firebase services on Linux, enabling cross-platform compatibility and expanding Flutter's reach.

    Why would it be useful?
    Adding Linux support would:

    Enable developers to target a wider range of platforms with their Flutter apps.
    Provide parity with other supported platforms (e.g., iOS, Android, Web).
    Leverage Firebase's capabilities (e.g., authentication, cloud storage, and Firestore) in desktop environments where Linux is widely used.

  4. Since emulators or simulators cannot access features such as camera, sound, etc., it is a physical emulator, that is, the user can use her own device as an emulator.

  6. One of the things that was important to me when developing clients in Apollo graphql is the playground.
    You should be able to create a document with a proper description.
    And currently, description using “”” is only possible for schema type. It is also needed for query, mutation.
    And we need to be able to generate them with the SDK and then see them in the client code.

  7. It's not clear in the documentation nor by implementation that secrets work with scheduled cloud functions. This seems to me like a major missing feature in security and consistency with the v2 cloud functions. Is the only solution using the cloud config for api keys/secrets?

    We need to have something like:

    exports.someScheduledFunction = onSchedule(
    {
    schedule: "every 60 minutes",
    timeoutSeconds: 100,
    secrets: [someToken.name],
    },
    async () => {
    logInfo("Running every 60 min");

    ...
    }
    );

  11. This allows filters like x.where("field", "!=", None) to work, matching the JavaScript implementation and Firestore GUI implementation. The feature is late by 4 years.

  12. The current procedure for setting CORS rules for a bucket is horrendous from a developer standpoint. One has to download and install a CLI called gsutil, which requires Python. The CLI must be configured and authenticated. Then one has to create a JSON-file with the desired CORS-rules and run a single command with the CLI. How is this not possible to accomplish in the web GUI?

  13. To streamline our web application development workflow and improve build performance, we propose integrating pnpm as an additional package manager option. pnpm offers significant advantages over npm, including:

    Faster Installation: pnpm's unique dependency management approach leads to significantly faster installation times, especially for large projects.
    Efficient Disk Space Usage: pnpm's hard linking mechanism reduces disk space usage by avoiding redundant copies of dependencies.
    Improved Security: pnpm provides advanced security features like dependency auditing and vulnerability checks.
    By incorporating pnpm support, we can enhance our build process, reduce build times, and improve overall project efficiency.

    Mainly we have some projects already…

  15. When I chose to use Firebase. It was because it was a free database for small webpages with 10 SMS/day. Now, it seems that you changed the terms when I already put a lot of effort into using firebase. Now I need to use a Blaze plan for 10 SMS/day. This means the following: "Now I might get spammed by any hacker using a VNP + a bot". It doesnt matter how much time I spend on setting up anti-spam defense. I could still get spammed and have to pay thousands of dollars right? I have 2 solutions:

    1. You could…

  16. Currently, you cannot use Fieldpath.document_id for collection group queries, which is rather shameful considering you can do that in Firebase UI.

  18. If I have 5 workspaces and I attempt to create another one, I get the following error:

    IDX currently has a per-user workspace limit. Please delete one or more workspaces before continuing...

    I cannot fix this error on this page. I have to manually navigate to idx.google.com to see my workspaces and delete them.

    I would consider the following improvements:

    1. Add a link to this error that takes you to your workspaces so that you can delete them.
    2. Show this error earlier. Currently this error is shown when you've filled out the form and pressed the "Create" button. This is…

  19. We were keep getting the Firestore Quota message tough the usage was just 2% in our billing.
    After reaching out to the Firebase team, we found out that there are also daily limitations for each action (Read, Write,..) that was hidden in google cloud console.

    The suggestion is to make the daily limitation chart visible in Firebase, as this error is effecting the users directly.

  20. Introduction
    In the current software development landscape, efficiency and productivity are critical success factors for projects. Google’s IDX Project already offers a robust infrastructure; however, introducing a new feature that enables the configuration of a "default workshop" could revolutionize how developers interact with the platform. This proposal aims to simplify and optimize the process of creating and importing projects, ensuring that relevant extensions and themes are automatically applied.

    Proposal
    The proposal consists of allowing users to configure a default workshop that includes a predefined selection of extensions and themes. When creating or importing new projects, this configuration will be automatically…
